Canadian Outback Cares

Our team at Canadian Outback Adventures & Events feels it's important to support others as much as we can. This year over 100 organizations will benefit from our "Canadian Outback Cares" initiative.

Live Stories Worth Telling

At Canadian Outback Adventures & Events we take pride in maintaining a philosophy of social responsibility. The only way to maintain such a philosophy is to ensure that everyone in our company, from the top down, believes that we can make a difference. This is why we started the "Canadian Outback Cares" initiative. Our goal is not only to make donations, but also to shed light on the many important issues and causes we support. Together with some of our most prominent clients, we've made contributions to areas of community importance including youth, education, health, and other social causes.

Building for Kids Golf Classic

Building for Kids Charity Golf Classic

Thank you to all our participants and sponsors for making the 2011 Annual Building for Kids Charity Golf Classic another great success. Over $160,000 was raised for BC Children's Hospital to help support research programs and purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment.

Over the past 16 years, the Building for Kids Charity Golf Classic has raised in excess of $1 million for BC Children's Hospital. With your help, we can continue to provide the funding necessary to make leading pediatric care accessible to the province's one million children.

BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund

BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Camp

The BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Camp is a summer camp for young burn survivors from all over British Columbia. Over a thousand boys and girls between the ages of 6 to 18 have attended the five-day camp in Squamish over its many years of operation.

Campers and their counselors participate in group activities such as rafting, swimming, hiking, kayaking, water skiing, skit night, and arts & crafts. They also receive valuable one-on-one support from junior counselors - themselves burn Corporate Castaways - and from their counselors.

The journey from burn patient to burn survivor is a long and painful one. Facing a lifetime of pain or disfigurement is just the beginning for most burn survivors. Their struggle to heal the acute emotional and psychological trauma is equally daunting. Young burn survivors can meet each other, have fun and forget their cares and worries. The children develop life-long friendships with other campers, and their counselors. They get to live stories worth telling.

The camp is fully funded by the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund. It is free for young burn survivors, thanks to the generous support of caring fire fighters, hospital staff, foundations, civic groups and individuals, and companies including ours and many others.

Each year the Canadian Outback Adventures team is proud to donate a memorable rafting experience for all camp participants and counselors. This is a day that is always a highlight of our year.

Canadian Outback Adventures & Events empowers people through shared experiences of learning, discovery and laughter, to stretch boundaries, challenge assumptions and think differently. We believe that everyone has the ability to feel wonder, about the world around them and in the things they are able to accomplish.

This extends from those who participate in our events and adventures, our clients, suppliers and our employees, all the way to the hundreds of incredible charities we have the pleasure of supporting. Some of these organizations include:

* Whistler Blackcomb Foundation * YWCA Women of Distinction Awards * The Nature Trust of British Columbia * Muscular Dystrophy Canada * Minerva Foundation for BC Women * Big Brothers Bowling * The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society * Alzheimer Society of BC * Variety - The Children's Charity * BC Cancer Foundation * Wildlife Rescue Association of B.C. * PRO Organics Foundation * Covenant House Vancouver * Lions Gate Hospital Foundation * Pitt Meadows Youth Council * Squamish Chamber of Commerce * North Vancouver Outdoor School * Junior Achievement of BC * Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary School * Outreach Africa * Pre-Maternelle Pomme d'Api Preschool *
