Save time and let us plan a memorable event for your group.
At each stage of the event teams will have the opportunity to change roles so that everyone in the group has a chance to be project lead. At the end of the building process, teams will put together a group presentation that will highlight their accomplishments and ‘sell’ their boat to the customer.
After that, the fun and paddling begins in earnest. Parading a bunch of fantastic cardboard boats into a pool or body of water WILL be exciting. Photos and videos of the teams and their subsequent 'races' will ensure that the glory of the event is remembered.
This popular learning program is an active and engaging learning event where participants divide into teams and then have the opportunity to build a real boat constructed from cardboard and packing tape. This boat will be built and then evaluated in a number of areas including presentation, design, marketing, team cohesiveness and finally, functionality...
This means that each team will be putting at least one member into the boat to compete on the water in a navigational challenge. Winning the boat race will not guarantee the overall win, but it will be a big factor.
Activity Level: Moderate
Event Duration: 3-4 Hours
Group Size: 25-2000+
Best Venue: Indoor space and access to water!

"We had a great time and the feedback from the group was excellent! Our Co-Office Managing Partner was extremely impressed with you, your team and the event on a whole, as was I! I was so relieved that everything worked out so well, you told me not to worry and you were right all along. Next time when Canadian Outback says they can get it done I’ll believe it! We’ll definitely keep Canadian Outback in mind for future events firm-wide."
"The event was fun, simple, effective and just the perfect length of time. The best part of the event was obviously the race at the end but I really enjoyed watching the event unfold as each new piece of information gave the teams new direction. It very much represented our world at work."

"I though that the whole presentation was great. Even though we only has 4 teams everyone worked together and got the ship built and had a wonderful time racing them. It brings "A" type personalities together as a team to get the job done. The facilitators were great and made the experience great fun for everyone."

"Kerry, you and your team were absolutely amazing!! We received a lot of positive feedback and the comments continue to circulate. Your sincere commitment to our group was felt from the beginning, straight through to the very end."

During the course of the event, teams will have to deal with several curve balls that are not uncommon in the real world, new requirements, staff changes, etc. As this is at the core a business simulation, real elements of actual business will be built into the program.
Following the racing, there will be a facilitated debriefing session where the events will be dissected according to the concepts that were learned. This review will be invaluable to knowledge retention later. Participants will also have the chance to share what they observed and learned.
Finally, there will be an awards presentation where each team will be recognized for some outstanding element of their project. Of course, the coveted Cardboard Shipwright Contract will also be given to the winning team. Depending on location and available resources, this would also be a time where a very popular slideshow featuring participants from each team and the subsequent contest would be shown.
