Rafting Operations Manager (Squamish)
Seasonal Fulltime Position (March 15 - October 15 2012)

Canadian Outback Adventures & Events is seeking a Seasonal Full Time Rafting Operations Manager for our dynamic rafting division in Squamish BC. The ideal candidate is an outdoor enthusiast with strong interpersonal and leadership skills, a commitment to the environment and the customer, self-motivated, detail oriented and goal driven. Reporting to the Director of Operations, this position requires creative problem solving skills, flexibility, time / people and resource management.

Qualifications:

  • Raft Guide, Trip Leader Certification
  • Proven ability to manage, guide and direct a team of mature staff
  • Strong interpersonal and communicative abilities
  • Detail oriented, excellent work ethic, ability to work under pressure
  • Valid BC drivers license (class 2 or 4 preferred)
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead member of planning, logistics and implementation of Canadian Outback Rafting Operations
  • Expense management
  • Human resource function; recruitment, development and training of river guides & base staff
  • Identification and development of rafting needs in training, equipment & supplies
  • Provide on going risk management and assessment of rafting operations
  • Represent Canadian Outback by fostering a high level of standard and professionalism in every aspect of job function and task
  • Administrative tasks; gives work directions, resolve problems, prepare schedules, and set deadlines to ensure timely completion of work

Corporate Solutions Sales Representative

We’re looking for an entrepreneurial, confident, energetic, well spoken and personable individual who wants a Sales career within an intimate, well established and market leading company which has big aspirations and vision.

20 years ago we produced and sold Adventures only in BC. Today we are the Leading Team Building and Group Activity Producer in North America, with Operations Offices across Canada and the USA.

This Sales career-position is based out of our International Head Office in North Vancouver, BC.
This person will be selling corporate team building events and group activities to Top Companies and Fortune 1000 in Canada and the USA. With clients located throughout North America this role is office-based, with potential travel for trade shows or other sales initiatives after your first year.

Due to the intricate nature of our business and sales system we provide full training and a 3-8 month transition period where you’ll be in a Sales Support role while ‘learning the ropes”. You benefit by this arrangement as your base salary is proportionately more than a Senior Sales Rep while in Sales Support. Then when you are ready to make great commission on top of your new remuneration package you’ll move to a Senior Sales Rep role.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Be first point of contact for most incoming inquiries, while in sales support
  • Respond to sales leads by qualifying and uncovering the client’s goals and objectives. Pending each client’s needs, forward to senior sales rep or work directly with the client by proposing the appropriate event solution.
  • Learning and implementing sales techniques and training into your daily routine to close sales and to facilitate the growth of those clients.
  • Assisting Senior Sales Representatives in the creation of sales proposals and in gathering information necessary for the completion of these proposals.
  • Support the entire Sales Team with initiatives that enable the team to be more productive.
  • Hit and exceed annual sales target
  • Proactively speak with prospects and clients every hour of every day

Requirements & Qualifications:

Though previous direct sales experience is preferred it is not a requirement. The following attributes, however, are required:

Office Location: 332 East Esplanade, North Vancouver BC (an easy commute by car or transit, just 3 blocks east of Lonsdale Quay SeaBus Terminal).

Remuneration:

  • $30,000 annual salary, while in training period
  • sales representative / sales support commissions commission is uncapped

Event Coordinator (Seasonal Contract Position) Toronto, Ontario

The Outback Group is looking to fill a key, hands-on Operations role in our Toronto office.
The Event Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, execution and presentation of Outback team building activities and group events.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Member of the planning, preparation and execution of Canadian Outback Event Operations
  • On site coordination of events
  • Liaison with suppliers and clients
  • Group address on events (groups from 50-500)
  • Organization and maintenance of event equipment and supplies
  • Assist with ongoing development of front-line event hosts
  • Predicting and reacting to potential challenges and implementing proactive solutions
  • Assist Event Manager with identifying and constructing solutions to department’s key challenge areas
  • Assist in daily operations of the organization as necessary
  • Working evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular hours as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in event planning or project coordination
  • Possess excellent interpersonal, written and customer service skills
  • Ability to speak in front of large groups
  • Ability to handle customer conflicts in an efficient and professional manner
  • Strong leadership skills
  • High level of professionalism
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibility
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays and irregular hours

Remuneration: $30,000 - $35,000 based on experience
