“Our thanks to you and the gang for making the Eagle Safari trip the success that it was!! EVERYTHING AND EVERYONE WAS PERFECT!!!!! I could rave on and on and still not feel that I've adequately expressed our pleasure and appreciation. The equipment, personnel, care and feeding of clients, etc., ALL deserve brownie points by the bucketful. Our best!!”

So you want to be a whitewater raft guide …

This raft guide course is designed as a training program for individuals wishing to obtain a commercial river rafting license in BC. Many BC river guides work internationally in countries such as Costa Rica, Panama, Chile, Tibet, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, and Austria to name a few. The BC River Guide License is well known internationally and creates inroads for international employment.

The course prepares students to take the both written and practical examinations required by the British Columbia River Outfitters Association (BCROA). The Canadian Outback river guide program provides a solid foundation of skills for aspiring professional guides while enabling the recreational rafter to safely engage in their own river expeditions.

Course Topics Include: river hydrology, river program risk management, specialized equipment, oar and paddle techniques, basic rope systems management, river rescue, flip drills, and many others.

This course has become popular among experienced recreational river rafters as a way to increase their skill level and add to their safety while enjoying this sport.

Canadian Outback's raft guide course includes a total 7 days of theory and practical river guide instruction and training. Days are intense, allowing you the best possible chance to learn as much as possible and pass the government exams. Through on going support and feedback our instructors are trained to provide you with the skills required to pass the provincial exams. Post-course practice using COA equipment is available for successful graduates and will be available on an exchange-for-work basis.

Upon completion of this course you will be prepared to write the government exams and work as a guide in the commercial rafting industry. We recruit the best and the brightest graduates to join our guide roster for the summer.

“We were very impressed with all of the raft guides and their professionalism. We had the ride of a lifetime!”
