“The spaced and easy flow of our Corporate Castaways event, from one "station" to the next, along with your staff’s clear explanations of what was expected really enhanced the day. People "got it" and had fun meeting the challenges. As with most Team events, the bringing together of individuals to meet a common goal directly facing them, and their finding ways to do this, was of great benefit. In our HEADSTART conference, these are people from right across Canada who seldom see each other directly. Working together in small groups is excellent networking, as opposed to sitting in a meeting or seminar. Without question this was an excellent investment.”

WHISTLER heli skiing

Whistler's best heli skiing tours!

Whistler Heli-skiing's opening date for 2009 / 10 season is Dec 5th 2009- April 18th 2010. We will be open during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Have you ever dreamed of heli skiing in the mountains of Canada? Have you ever wondered if you can "heli" snowboard? Have you watched the movies and doubted your ability to do it yourself? Well, if you can handle the "blue" (intermediate) runs at your ski area and occasionally attempt a black run, then you too CAN experience our fantastic high alpine powder!

90% of the world's heliskiing takes place in British Columbia, Canada. Our glacial climate, vast wilderness and abundance of powder snow, make this area ideal for the dream. Whistler Heli-Skiing has exclusive rights to heliski an area of big mountain terrain in the Whistler area that is 54 miles long and 33 miles wide. We ski on 173 glaciers and 475 runs. We've been here since 1981 and we are Whistler's most popular heli-ski company, yet there are runs on these mountains that we're still waiting to ski.

Need to get up to Whistler from Vancouver? Rent a car from Enterprise or check out the convenient Greyhound bus schedule. Looking for accommodation in Whistler? Check out our discounted rates at the Crystal Lodge Hotel & Crystal Lodge Hotel winter rates.

Going skiing or boarding while you’re in Whistler? Looking for lift tickets, lessons or rentals? check out our Whistler lift tickets and get organized for your adventure this winter! We also have discounted lift tickets for groups of 25 or more please call 1800 565 8735 for prices and package information for your group.

Just beyond the ski lifts of Whistler and Blackcomb, minutes from North America's #1-ranked Ski Resort, awaits the ultimate high-alpine experience. Imagine carving through untracked powder, endless terrain and breath-taking scenery.

With hundreds of ski runs, there is a tremendous variety of slopes to accommodate all levels of skiers and boarders from intermediate to expert. The skiing varies from wide-open glaciers to beautiful gladed tree runs.

The heli-ski area is made up of several zones and is approximately 50 miles north/south by 30 miles east/west (80km by 50km). Your guide will select terrain within a zone according to snowfall, the weather, and your group's ability.

Ability Levels

TERRAIN: Heli-skiing with us is about great skiing in gladded trees, open bowls and on glaciers. It is not about “extreme” skiing or jumping cliffs and rocks. We require that skiers are able to do parallel turns and snowboarders be able to handle deep powder.

CHOOSE YOUR ABILITY LEVEL WHILE TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION YOUR SKILLS, THE PACE OF THE DAY AND THE TERRAIN. (Blue, black and double black runs refer to the runs at your home or usual ski area.)

Intermediate

  • Blue Runs: Ski/board them with little trouble doing parallel turns down the fall line
  • Black Runs: Occasionally ski/board them
  • Double Black Runs: Can get down sometimes but not with a lot of style
  • Off Piste/Powder: Have some experience with different snow conditions and powder
  • Pace of the Day: Short pitches of skiing with lots of stops for rest, skiing tips and pictures
  • Terrain: Intermediate terrain
  • Suggested Package: “Classic Experience”

Advanced

  • Blue Runs: Have been skiing/boarding for years and get a lot of days in per season
  • Blues are easy
  • Black Runs: Routinely ski/board them
  • Double Black Runs: Often ski/board them
  • Off Piste/Powder: Enjoy powder and seek it out whenever possible
  • Pace of the Day: Similar to the expert, with longer pitches of skiing and less stopping, but at a more relaxed pace
  • Terrain: A combination of intermediate and expert terrain
  • Suggested Package: “Classic Experience”

Expert

  • Blue Runs: No problem on any blue run
  • Black Runs: No problem with any black runs
  • Double Black Runs: No problem with any double-black runs
  • Off Piste/Powder: Lots of powder experience and like to ski it quickly, rarely falling
Pace of the Day: Longer pitches of skiing and less stopping
  • Terrain: Steeper lines and terrain provided avalanche hazard is appropriate
  • Suggested Package: “Elite Adventure” OR “Ultimate Excursion”
